/ I’m Kalle Neuman, a junior television production major at Hofstra University. I grew up and spent most of my life in my home state of Minnesota, and getting to travel was always a rare but exciting opportunity for me. When I was little, one of my aunts (who I was very close to) made the decision to leave Minnesota to live in L.A. That really was the first time that I ever realized that it was even possible for someone to leave Minnesota and live somewhere else. Every single member of my entire family had been born and raised in Minnesota and stayed there. I always wanted to go visit my aunt in California, but I never had the chance before she moved back to Minnesota many years later. I still have yet to make it out to the west coast, but the framed photograph of the Hollywood sign that was gifted to me by my aunt and that hung in my bedroom for most of my life is starting to feel like a fun reminder of what’s to come. This is an opportunity I could not be more grateful or excited for.
I think I’m most excited to see how this industry that I am so incredibly passionate about actually operates, and to discover things that I don’t even know about yet. Right now, I am interested in every step of TV production from pre to post-production. I also love writing, especially when I can watch my written ideas turn into an actual video or part of a show. I know that I want to work in comedy, and it’s my ultimate goal to work on a late-night show someday, but I’m sure I will find new and exciting roles while I’m in L.A. I know that this trip will be something that I’ll remember and cherish for the rest of my life.
Oh boy. Kalle, I can’t wait to see this chapter unfold. If it is anything like the first twenty one we will be entertained. Reach for it like you always have.
Love,
Papa
