/ Hi all! My name is Daniella and I’m a public relations major at Hofstra University from Queens, NY. Since I was young, I’ve felt very fortunate enough to grow up just a 20 minute LIRR ride into the heart of New York City, and I definitely wouldn’t want it any other way. When I decided to study public relations in college, there was nothing I looked forward to more than commuting into NYC for internships and experience other great opportunities this city has to offer. I’m so thankful that I was able to do not one, but two internships in NYC the last two summers with FerenComm and Sunshine Sachs. Through both of these internships, I’ve gotten some amazing public relations agency experience from some incredible professionals that I could use when I become a professional myself. But, through all of this, I have always felt that something was missing in my experiences since I want to be a part of the entertainment PR industry…and that is visiting Los Angeles!
Entertainment public relations, specifically event coordination and personal publicity, is definitely the area of PR that I belong in. After learning so much about this profession, all I’ve wanted to do was experience L.A. through a PR lens for myself. I’m so ecstatic that through Hofstra in L.A., I really get to do it. Finally! If I’m being honest, it hasn’t even sunk in yet (as nerdy as that sounds). I’m looking forward to meeting and networking with a variety of professionals to learn about their experience working in the entertainment industry in the entertainment capital.
Through this trip, I am looking for clarity on whether I really want to move to Los Angeles someday for my entertainment PR career, or if NYC is really where my heart is. LA has a lot to live up to, but as my favorite band, the Jonas Brothers, says: “L.A., L.A. baby – where dreams are made of!”
