My West Coast Adventure

By: Joe Gilberto

/ I could not be more excited to go to Los Angeles. Here in New York, the prospects for entertainment-based television feel so finite, but in Los Angeles the possibilities just seem endless. From single camera to animation, the options are vast and exciting. It truly feels like one is only limited by their own creativity. As someone who is interested in writing, especially for children’s television, coming to Los Angeles feels less like a natural progression. Los Angeles is the place one has to be to move forward with their craft and get recognized for their talent through hard work, determination, and a bit of luck. The city is new and exciting, offering me opportunities to follow my dreams and work on productions I could only ever hope to be a part of, and I cannot wait to join it.

Coming to Los Angeles with my classmates to network with entertainment professionals is a truly unique experience I could never have achieved on my own. Getting to work on my networking abilities with the people I dream to work alongside is intimidating but also a great exercise of my professional skills. I will get to learn the ins and outs of places media companies I used to dream of one day seeing. The wisdom these professionals can pass onto me, as someone rising into the entertainment industry, is invaluable and I cannot wait to see what I will learn. Furthermore I am incredibly empowered knowing I will have my peers right alongside me. Their own experience and perspectives will continuously add my experience and teach me more than if I were on my own. I am so fortunate to have this opportunity and I will be sure to cherish every moment of my West Coast adventure.
